Love Letter
To my one and only
Warning: Contains high levels of hindsight and zero remaining patience.
The beginning was such a daydream,
But whoa, explosions.
Now it's a 4 p.m. nap nightmare
I wish I'd never taken at all.
From picking up my pen for me
To belittling me,
To humiliating me,
To mocking me
In front of my friends
And anyone who happens to be there.
All in the name of humor.
I hate you for it all.
My darling, this is my love letter.
And the gifts I gave you, corners folded, ribbon tied,
Discarded like trash in your house.
And uh, why are you angry this time?
What did I do this time?
Or are you angry just because I exist?
โ(And uh, why am I feeling guilty this time?
What was my fault this time?
My existence.)
You're the hair in my food,
You're the decay in my wisdom tooth,
You're the splinter under my nail,
You're the corn on my feet that always wants to come back.
And let me say it plainly:
I'm fed up with you,
I'm sick of you,
And no painkiller will dull the pain that is you.
And I don't even hate you now,
Just stay out of my sight.
Darling, this is my love letter.
And all those years are a poisonous stone
That I throw gladly in the deep ocean.
Let the Bermuda Triangle swallow it whole,
Let it never come back to the surface at all.
This is my love letter.
And I don't hate you.
And as proof, this is my love letter.
Author's note: Zero romantic clichรฉs were harmed in the making of this letter.
I was listening to Love Letter by Gracie Abrams when I thought of this.
Thank you for reading.

i LOVE that the refrain becomes more sarcastic every time
